Join the winners of the International Booker Prize for a live Q&A and special film screening – plus win prizes from MUBI, Foyles and The Garden Cinema
We’ve teamed up with global film distributor and streaming service MUBI, award-winning bookseller Foyles and London’s The Garden Cinema for a special event and competition – and to match great movies to the books on the International Booker Prize 2023 shortlist.
On Friday, May 26 at 8pm we’re hosting an intimate event at The Garden Cinema, a new independent cinema in the heart of London. This will be the first opportunity for readers and cinema-goers to hear from the winners (the author and translator) of the International Booker Prize 2023 in a live Q&A chaired by the writer Sarah Shaffi, followed by a screening of the film that has been paired with the winning book by the team at MUBI. You can book tickets here.
To support this special live event, we’re giving away a range of prizes, including a signed set of all six books shortlisted for the International Booker Prize 2023; a year’s subscription to MUBI; a limited-edition MUBI tote bag; a money-can’t-buy Booker Prize tote bag; a £50 eGift card for Foyles; and (for UK entrants only) a lifetime membership to The Garden Cinema. Head over to The Booker Prizes’ website at the link below, for your chance to win.
A great movie to match each book on the International Booker Prize shortlist
The International Booker Prize celebrates the best fiction translated into English from other languages, helping bring fresh voices and experiences from other cultures to the widest possible audience.
We believe there is a natural union between international fiction and international film, so ahead of our event at The Garden Cinema, we asked our friends at MUBI to recommend six great movies from around the world to complement this year’s International Booker shortlist. Read more about the films over on The Booker Prizes’ website, where you can also get a 30-day free trial of MUBI to enjoy the films at home.
